The Program
The Youth Boxing Program is a membership-based program for kids ages 6 to 18 to learn the skill and art of boxing. We do not teach kids to fight, we teach the values of hard work, being disciplined, and how to move our bodies effectively and efficiently.
-
Membership
Boxers fight alone in the ring. But it takes a coach and support team to bring that boxer there. As a Youth Boxing Club, we train kids in boxing, but teach that club members are a community, that we have more in common than we are different, and that all are welcome and appreciated.

ADK Youth Boxing Program

Youth Boxing Club FAQ:
-
It is a membership-based, under-18 after school club dedicated to helping local youth learn the sport of Boxing.
-
Boxing is a multidisciplinary sport, that is by most accounts one of the most difficult to master. To be good requires discipline, it requires awareness of your body, how and why it moves the way it does, and being present in the moment.
-
Concussions are rare in Youth Boxing, less so than football, soccer, basketball, hockey, etc. because of the protections put in place; protective equipment, sparring safeguards, and safe training techniques.
-
I am a Silver level boxing coach with USA Boxing; which is the governing body for all amateur, Olympic-style boxing. I have 15 years experience in boxing training, and I have been a USA Boxing coach since 2017. I have run boxing fitness classes since 2017 and have been a personal trainer since 2022. I am a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and National Strength & Conditioning Association. My work background includes juvenile probation, social work and youth residential treatment.
-
Olympic-style boxing, because it is an amateur sport, is primarily about scoring points to win a bout rather than winning via knockdown or knock out. Since scoring points is the primary goal, Olympic-style boxing is about form and good technique, about strategy and grace versus brutality.
-
Youth Boxing is at the our new space in Lake Placid - 2049 Saranac Ave. (above the Euro MiniMart) - on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:30, and Saturdays from 10:30 to 11:30.
-
The Youth Boxing Club is a membership-based program and is $85/month for middle and high school ages. Elementary ages are $55/month. While that may seem like a lot, it breaks down to only $10/per class.
-
Individual lessons are for those members who want to increase their skill level beyond what they can learn in a class setting, or who are interested in competition. Individual lessons for Club Members are $35 per session.
-
Competition takes time, discipline, effort and achieving a certain skill level - which is determined by the Coach. It will also take money: USAB-approved equipment, lessons, and travel expenses. If you decide to compete, we will sit down and come up with a training schedule and a budget.
-
All boxing club members must also have a member-athlete membership with USA Boxing. This provides supplemental health insurance coverage and additional liability protection in case of an injury. Startup costs: $85 membership fee + $65 - $70 for USAB Member-Athlete annual membership. Additionally, liability waivers for ADKBoxing & Fitness and The Dance Sanctuary, and image/photo/video permissions or declinations must be signed (links to forms below).
